About
Biography
Mariah started at Oak Crest in our Lower School, and now has transitioned to Elementary School. She came to us from the Austin Public School system where she received the Teacher of Promise award. In addition to her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, she is special education and ESL certified.
She is also the mother of two Oak Crest dragons, an avid reader, and an accomplished marathon runner. She loves to keep up-to-date on pedagogy and education.
What is your favorite thing about Oak Crest?
My favorite thing is that no child here gets left behind.
Favorite Books:
Murmur of Bees and the Anna Hibiscus series.
Favorite subject in school:
Math is my favorite subject because it makes me feel smart when I really understand a new concept.
