Students participate in P.E. twice each week. Our youngest students begin with exercises to improve their gross motor skills. Simple gymnastics moves are learned and group activities are introduced.
As the students advance into their elementary school years, there is an increasing emphasis on stamina. Running and calisthenics are added into P.E. classes to improve strength and coordination. Students are taught the rules and learn how to play various games: basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and so forth. An emphasis on good sportsmanship teaches teamwork and concern for others while competing.
The purpose of the P.E. program is to lay a foundation for healthy living, to familiarize students with popular sports of various kinds and to give them the opportunity to experience the fun and extroversion from their studies that physical movement provides.
