Every week, our middle school class receives an age-appropriate news magazine that describes events from around the world. Students watch a brief video presentation, read from the magazine and participate in a current events seminar that focuses on different topics from the latest issue. This is followed by a lively discussion. Students then are given writing assignments so that they can further develop and express their own opinions about the topic. Short quizzes verify that students understand what was covered.
